The School of Nursing is pleased to welcome Joanna Shedd, PhD, CNS, PHN, RN, as Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Nursing. Beginning this summer, Dr. Shedd will provide leadership and continuity for the school's graduate nursing programs, overseeing academic affairs while working closely with faculty, staff, and students to strengthen academic initiatives, foster a supportive learning environment, and guide the school through this important period of transition.
A seasoned nursing educator and administrator, Dr. Shedd brings extensive leadership experience including her time as the Associate Dean of Student Experience and the Assistant Dean of the Accelerated Master's Program at Chamberlain University. Most recently, she served as the Interim National Dean of Online Nursing at Education Affiliates/Fortis College of Nursing.
Throughout her career, she has led with a commitment to academic excellence, faculty development, student success, and collaborative leadership. Her broad understanding of nursing education and higher education administration positions her well to support the school's mission and strategic priorities. Dr. Shedd is not new to Loma Linda University School of Nursing either, as she has previously held roles within faculty as an assistant professor and director of the RN-to-BS program.
"My hope is to build on the strong foundation already in place by supporting our faculty as they mentor the next generation of nurse leaders, ensuring our students feel equipped and cared for throughout their academic journey, and fostering a culture where academic excellence and Christ-centered service go hand in hand," said Dr. Shedd.
