At most nursing schools, clinical experience happens only during scheduled rotations. At Loma Linda University School of Nursing, we offer something more.
The Student Nurse Assistive Personnel (SNAP) Program is a standout opportunity available only to LLUSN students—a direct result of our close partnership with Loma Linda University Health, a nationally respected academic health system.
What Makes SNAP So Unique?
Unlike traditional nursing programs, LLUSN students have the chance to work as paid Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) in our adult and children’s hospitals while still in school. You’ll gain real, hands-on clinical experience alongside our nursing teams—boosting your confidence, sharpening your skills, and deepening your understanding of patient care.
Built-In Benefits That Set You Apart:
- Paid, On-the-Job Training: Apply what you’re learning in class directly at the bedside—and get paid while you do it.
- Flexible Scheduling: Pick up a minimum of 6- or 12-hour shifts per pay period when it works for you—even on short notice.
- Tuition Credit: Earn tuition credit (equal to 1 academic unit) for every 120 hours of work—helping offset the cost of your degree while you gain experience.
Who’s Eligible?
LLUSN students who have completed the first two quarters of the program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and are in good academic and behavioral standing (no behavioral or academic probation).
The Bottom Line:
Programs like SNAP simply don’t exist at most nursing schools. It’s a powerful example of how LLUSN connects students to real-world experience through our integrated health system—preparing you for your career from the inside out.
